Why Great Cake Design Matters
When it comes to bespoke birthday cakes, we know that nothing matters more than delighting customers with the design and quality of the product.
While it is true that even a badly-designed or executed cake might still taste nice, there is he scope for disappointment if the finished product looks amateurish and fails to match expectations. After all, nobody asks for a themed cake that fails to actually look like the real deal.
An example of the kind of disappointment this kind of let-down can generate was reported this week.
In this case, the customer had seen a fine array of cake designs based on the Incredible Hulk, from a close up of the green giant’s enraged face to an image of him crashing through a wall. Being the Marvel fan he was, he ordered one for his birthday, only to get something looking more like a large green jelly baby.
Mercifully, the customer, who was named Brent rather than Bruce Banner, merely posted a video on Tik Tok highlighting his disappointment and contrasting what he wanted with what he got, rather than reacting in true Hulk fashion by turning green and muscular, ripping his shirt and hurling a few cars around (and probably the cake, too) in a foaming rage.
Thankfully, there are lots of good cake examples out there as well. For instance, Cruz Beckham got to celebrate his 17th birthday with a supeb Billie Eilish themed cake. Perhaps it helps having parents who will never skimp on style and design helps somewhat, of course. But if you want a Billie Eilish cake, something that looks like Billie Eilish is really not too much to ask.
While it might be hard to imagine anyone called Beckham tearing expensive designer clothes and turning green, nobody should be made angry by a themed cake that doesn’t look the part.
