Jim Carrey Shows Love For Giant Grinch Cake

The star of the 2000 Ron Howard movie How The Grinch Stole Christmas, Jim Carrey, has heaped praise on a UK baker who has created a giant cake in the shape of the titular green Dr Seuss character.

BBC News reports that baker Lara Mason shared her incredible cake making skills on social media, which was soon spotted by the actor, who praised the life-like cake.

Carrey to Twitter and wrote: “My ultimate goal is not just to be admired by my fans, but to be eaten by them.

“I wonder if she does an angel food Ace Ventura?”

Lara, from the West Midlands, said it was an ‘absolute dream come true’ to get a response from one of her favourite actors, adding that The Grinch was one of her all-time favourite festive films and that she’s up for the challenge to create an Ace Ventura cake.

She explained that the sculpture was supported by a ‘complicated internal frame’, onto which slabs of cake were stacked, carved, and covered in chocolate ganache, before being layered with ‘modelling chocolate’, which she described as a mixture of chocolate and golden syrup that can be manipulated like plasticine

The Grinch tells the story of a cynical grump who grows increasingly annoyed with the ever-growing festive cheer that engulfs the village of Whoville, leading him to team up with his dog, Max, to ruin the festive spirit by destroying Christmas.

The Dr Seuss book was published by Random House in 1957 and criticises the commercialisation of Christmas and the holiday season, and has been adapted many times, first as a 1966 animated TV film narrated by Boris Karloff.
