What Are You Celebrating in 2022?
In the last two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have either been unable to throw parties and attend important life events, or we have not felt safe enough to mix with people in close quarters. But we are all optimistic that we will be able to party hard in 2022.
According to a report from Pinterest, many of us will be making up for a lack of parties and celebrations in 2020 and 2021, but our reasons for celebrating might be a little more unusual in 2022. While there will be the traditional birthday and wedding celebrations, and continued interest in sustainability for celebrations, some predicted parties could be for unusual reasons.
The study from Pinterest suggests that in 2022 we will be celebrating some alternative milestones that would once have been as rather negative life events, such as divorce, the end of a relationship, or quitting your job.
The predictions from the social media platform are not altogether that surprising, as after almost two years of restrained, sedate, virtual, and socially distanced parties, people are ready to embrace parties and celebrate anything and everything.
This could mean that we will be celebrating the important changes we make in our lives during the next 12 months, instead of dwelling on regret about them. This has certainly been seen on the video-sharing platform TikTok, where users have been sharing footage of their own break-up and Jon-quitting parties.
The community manager at events company Skiddle, Anna Cook, said that events have already started taking on a whole new meaning, saying that she has seen an increase in experimental celebrations, a drive-in raves, socially distant clubs and festivals.
“This is where the trailblazers and the pioneers of the scene will always prevail and succeed in bringing people together no matter what comes next,” she said.
